Looking For The Best Dentist in Calgary?

Your mouth is the gateway to pretty much everything in life. Food and drink are life sustaining and the smile you present to the world makes a huge impact on your career and social life. Also, more and more research now supports that your oral health affects the rest of your body and many functions within your body affect your mouth. With all of these critical factors, it’s easy to see that your dentist is one of the most important members of your health care team, therefore you should be looking for the best dentist in Calgary, not just the closest office to your home or office.

When you are looking for the best dentist in Calgary, there are some key factors to look for. The basics include a convenient location, friendly staff and policies, hours and services that meet your needs, but if you want a truly great dentist, there are many other important things to look for. These include:

1.     Versatility - In order to find the best dentist in Calgary for your family, you’ll want a dentist that has the versatility to work with small children, teens, adults and seniors. Throughout your lives, your family members will each reach these milestones and the dental care and treatments you need will change as you grow and age. Look for a dentist that has the ability and experience to work with your family members in each stage of their lives.

2.     Additional training & expertise - On a similar note, look for a dentist that has continued to upgrade their training and knowledge, therefore gaining additional expertise in specific dental disciplines. These may include pediatric dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics and much more.

3.     Holistic approach - As research continues to support that the health of our mouths and bodies are intertwined, it will become more important to work with a dentist that takes a holistic approach to managing your oral care as it relates to the rest of your body. Ensure that the dentist in Calgary that you choose takes the time to understand your health, daily habits and any concerns you may have that will affect your dental health.

4.     Minimally invasive treatment - Research also continues to demonstrate that less is more when it comes to dental care. While fillings, root canals and much more are very necessary treatments in the right circumstance, your dentist should always be looking for the least invasive way to help your teeth and mouth remain healthy, even if that means charging you less.

When looking for the best dentist in Calgary, be sure to dig a little deeper to find the right one. Set up a meet and greet with the dentist and ask a lot of questions to understand not just the mechanics of their care, but also the philosophy behind their care approach. Find out what their professional values and beliefs are and how that will affect the level of care you and your family receive. This is the best way to find a great dentist in Calgary that will fit your needs and be that crucial part of your healthcare team.

How Can You Find the Best Dentist in NW Calgary?

Calgary has a ton of dentists to choose from, so it can be pretty easy to find a lot of options. You can go with any random dentist and keep trying new ones until you find a good one, or you can consider your options using these tips so you can find the best dentist in NW Calgary the first time.

Here are a few tips on how to find the best dentist in Calgary:

1.     Ask for referrals - One of the best ways to find a great dentist is to ask your relatives, friends, neighbors and colleagues which dentist they use. Chances are, they will have found an awesome dentist that is close to work or in your neighborhood. They will also have first-hand experience to share with you, so you know you can trust their opinions and honest reviews.

2.     Search online - If asking for referrals hasn’t amounted to many options, you can also search in Google for the best dentist in NW Calgary. Actually, you should even check out any referred dentists online because you can really determine if this clinic is the right fit for you when you check them out online. Check the reviews left by current and past patients to get an idea of how things go well and how they might go poorly. It’s also a good idea to check out the clinic’s website to learn more.

3.     Ask questions - Once you find a few clinics that have great reviews and are nearby, you can call to ask some questions and possibly book a meet and greet with the dentist. Ensure that this clinic offers the services you need and that they follow all regulations, sterilization procedures and that they keep up to date with their techniques and technology.

4.     Book your first appointment - If you think you’ve found a winner, give them a try and see how it goes. Watch to ensure that any details you were given about the clinic’s procedures follow through, that you’re treated well by all staff and that you generally feel comfortable visiting this clinic and having any dental procedure completed. You’re looking for a dentist who listens to you, understands your needs and takes excellent care of your oral and overall health.

While these tips should help you to find the best dentist in Calgary on your first try, if you are at all unsure or uncomfortable with any aspect of working with the dentist or clinic you have chosen, don’t be afraid to switch it up. No matter how well you vet a new dentist, you can never be sure it will work out until you’ve tried a few appointments. If you’re not happy, be sure to change it up. Dental health is crucial to your overall health so you want to have a dentist in Calgary that you feel comfortable visiting regularly.

Taking good care of your oral health is so important. Find the best dentist in Calgary and make sure you see them often!

The Best Dentist In Calgary - Is It Easy To Find?

Your dentist is an important member of your overall health care team. It’s proven that your oral health affects your mental health, as well as the overall health of your whole body. Prolonged issues in your mouth such as periodontal disease can lead to heart disease, stroke, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and diabetic complications, making it critical that you take good care of your mouth.

The best Calgary dentist is easy to find if you know where and how to look for them. When you are in need of a dentist nearby, we recommend following these tips to make the process easier.

Ask your friends, family or co-workers. Chances are one of them has a great dentist they can recommend.

Ask your doctor or a pharmacist. Members of the medical community often know one another.

If you are moving, ask your current dentist for a recommendation. They might know somebody in the town or area you are moving to.

Here are some key tips on what to look for when considering the best dentist nearby you.

Do they accept your dental insurance?

Do they have office hours that fit your schedule?

Do they have an office close to your home or workplace?

What is their approach to preventive dentistry?

How do they handle after-hour emergencies? Do they have an emergency referral service?

Ask about costs. It's OK to ask for estimates on some common procedures such as full-mouth X-rays, an oral exam and cleaning and filling a cavity.

What is their missed appointments policy?

And once you choose to visit a dental office, there are some key things to look for to determine if this is the right fit for you.

Is their office clean, neat and orderly?

Does their equipment appear to be clean and modern?

Did the dental staff answer your questions in a kind and courteous manner?

Do the dentist and staff wear the appropriate protective gear?

It can take some time to get to know a new dentist and it’s certainly worth going through these steps to ensure you have chosen well. Give a new dentist some time to show you the qualities you are looking for, but if you are still not satisfied after a few visits, don’t be afraid to try another dentist nearby. If you need to undergo any major procedure such as a root canal or dental implant, it is highly recommended that you are very comfortable with your dentist and the way the clinic handles your visits. If not, don’t be afraid to move on before these procedures. They represent a significant cost and can be a bit stressful so you want to feel completely comfortable with the people completing the procedure from end to end.

Finding the best dentist nearby you can be easy if you know where to look, what to look for and if you take the time to properly get to know the dental clinic you are choosing. Making the right choice is important for your overall health so take your time.

Finding a Dentist Nearby

Finding a great dentist is imperative to your dental health and can also impact your overall health. You want to feel comfortable going to your dentist and that you can trust them to always act in your best interest and be a source of knowledge and advice that is critical to your oral health. Many people don’t realize that your dentist is also an important ally in managing the care of the rest of your body as well. Several diseases such as diabetes will show signs in the mouth that your dentist may catch. Poor dental health can also lead to things like infection, periodontal disease and even heart disease. For all of these reasons, it’s crucial to your health that you find a dentist that you can work with to maintain good oral care across your lifetime.

One of the best ways to ensure you maintain a regular dental care schedule is to find a dentist that is nearby the areas you frequent such as work or your home. Having a trusted dentist nearby can ensure that you visit for regular check ups, any issues that arise and for emergency care, if the need arises.

In order to find a wonderful dentist nearby your work or home, you can ask neighbours or co-workers for referrals or watch for signs in your area and check them out online. Searching online with the keywords Dentist Nearby will also give you some good options to review.

Once you have a few options of nearby dentists to check out, you can search for them to view their Google reviews. Check for ratings, what others are saying and that any negative comments were addressed appropriately.

When you visit the website of a great dental clinic, you will often find testimonials and lots of information about the dentists, the clinics values and what type of services they offer. Read through these to better understand what type of clinic they are and what matters most to them. While some websites can look great and say all the right things, it’s most important that you feel comfortable and that the team at the clinic is approachable, experienced and trustworthy.

When choosing the best dentist nearby, the best indicator is others who have had positive experiences. Referrals, reviews and testimonials will let you know if a clinic fits with your preferences and if they will meet your needs.

Building a relationship with a dental clinic nearby is important to your overall health so be sure to choose wisely!

Family Dentist Vs Regular Dentist

Choosing a dentist for your family can seem as simple as choosing a dental clinic in NW Calgary that is close to home but there are many other things to consider. Often regular dentists don’t offer the same services as a family dentist that will focus on children as well as they grow and their oral needs change. Throughout each stage of life, a family dentist will be there for you with knowledge and practical solutions to guide your oral care.

Some of the reasons you may want to select a family dentist over a regular dentist for your family’s dental care needs include the fact that family dentists have expertise in children’s oral care, concerns, psychology and development. You may also notice that a family dentist Calgary NW will accommodate scheduling multiple family members around the same time and they will help to coordinate billing so it is optimal for your family.

Family dentists receive extra training in the specific care of children. The oral care a child needs varies considerably as they grow from toddlers to children to teenagers and family dentists are trained in dealing with specific issues such as thumb sucking, cavity management and orthodontics. They also receive child psychology training to ensure that they are working with your child the way that best suits their emotional maturity. Creating great dental experiences at a young age is very important to ensure lifelong good habits.

When your whole family visits the same dental clinic, it is very easy for the dental team to get to know the unique needs of your family. They can be sensitive to and flexible with your scheduling needs, payment options and generally being able to anticipate future concerns that may arise. When a dental clinic knows your family well, it is also likely that your whole family will feel more comfortable discussing concerns and any issues that may arise. It’s important to create a team around your family because it truly does take a village and dental care is so crucial to the health of a family.

Essentially, a family dentist gets to know the needs of each member of your family and the family as a whole. This often makes maintaining regular dental visits, completing treatments and ensuring effective oral care for your family much easier. Family dentists in NW Calgary offer holistic care that makes managing dental care simpler and more efficient. From children through to seniors, a family dentist is equipped to care for patients throughout every stage of life.

Northmount Dental is the family dentist that your family needs! We’re here to support each member of your family as they grow and age to ensure oral care is maintained and well managed throughout each stage your family goes through. We’d love to meet you to discuss how our clinic can be the new home for your family’s dental care. Book an appointment online today.
